Influenced by Sepultura, Nevermore, Coroner, Neurosis and Gojira, the group The Hill is Burning was born in November 2015, at the initiative of Cédric Quéré,Vocal/guitar.

The starting point of this adventure, is “Wake up!” », a self-produced model of five titles released in December 2015. The band really have to wait until the beginning of 2019, for the “THIB” project to become.

The Hill is Burning with the arrival of Nicolas Belleville (Nazca), Éric Castelnau (Black Babouk and Lomor) and bassist David Fringue (EMS), who strengthen the line up.

The sound signature of this newly formed group then emerges quite clearly.

The year 2019 is placed under the sign of work: the pieces are being put in place, the arrangements are being reworked. Cédric somewhat abandons his favorite instrument and takes up the position of full-time singer.

The Hill Is Burning's first album, "Last Bullet", was released on digital platforms in March 2020. But the shadow of Covid 19 hanging over the music industry is jeopardizing this long- awaited release.

Far from giving up, THIB nevertheless gives a few concerts, including one with Studiotic, an independent label and rehearsal studio in St Denis de La Réunion and despite a year 2021 marked by illness, THIB finds a new lease of life and returns to rehearsals.

The band is then invited by other band like “Tukatukas”,”Lomor”,and “Warfield”, for opening for them, the last part of 2021.

The Hill Is Burning begins the year 2022 with the creation of new compositions: more direct songs, textures and a different sound universe, marked by new effects (reverb, synthesizer, etc.).

Following this compositional work and in a moment of madness, the group ventured to contact Colin Richardson, the producer of... Machine Head (“Burn my eyes”, that’s him!), Slipknot, Sepultura, Carcass or even Napalm Death! And Colin sends the musicians to his young right arm, Chris Clancy, the producer of the latest Machine Head, Katalysm and Death Angel!

Ten tracks were recorded in Reunion Island and sent to England to be fully mixed and mastered at Audioworks Studio. And here is The Hill Is Burning, produced by Chris Clancy for his second album!

The first single, “The Dreamer” was released on March 24, 2023, and has been ranked in the top 10 of South American Rock radio stations for more than 3 months, “From Away”, the 2nd single, is more than 10,000 plays on Spotify, while “Your Own You”, released 2 months ago, has already exceeded 2,500 plays!

The band has performed several concerts since January, and is preparing to do several dates until the end of the year, including the night of Kal, a reference for Réunion metal, as the first part of "AKIAVEL" in October.

The 2nd album will be released on CD at the end of October and on all digital platforms, the band was asked for dates outside of the meeting, in mainland France, but also in Germany, Spain and Canada.

To prepare as best as possible, The Hill Is Burning will take some creative time in partnership with the city of arts, to prepare a concert with content in line with their music, in particular around the band 2nd album, which revolves around the themes of space, travel and imagination.

A band to follow at the end of the year, and in 2024, which promises great things!
